Your data

Privacy notice

How we collect, use and look after your personal information.

The Meryan House Hotel (“we”, “us”) is the data controller for the personal information described here. Our address is Bishops Hull Road, Bishops Hull, Taunton, Somerset TA1 5EG.

What we collect

  • Room bookings — taken through Free To Book. Your name, contact details and stay dates are processed by them on our behalf.
  • Food orders — the name, phone number, room number or delivery address and any notes you give us when placing an order.
  • Enquiries — anything you send us through a contact form, by email or by phone.
  • Funeral function bookings — the details you share when arranging a service, including livestream requests.

How the website handles your details

The website itself does not run a database. Enquiry and order forms open a pre-filled message in your own email programme, which you then choose to send — so nothing is transmitted to us until you send it. Your food basket is held only in your own browser, on your own device, and we cannot see it.

Why we use it, and for how long

We use your information to take and fulfil your booking or order, to answer your enquiry, and to meet our legal and accounting obligations. Our lawful bases are performance of a contract with you and, for record-keeping, our legal obligations. We keep booking and order records for as long as we are required to for tax purposes, and enquiry correspondence for no longer than we need it.

Who we share it with

We share your details only with the providers needed to serve you — our booking provider (Free To Book), our payment provider where a payment is taken, and where required by law. We do not sell your personal data, and we do not share it for advertising.

Your rights

You have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to have it corrected or erased, to restrict or object to how we use it, and to data portability. To exercise any of these, email meryanhousehotel@yahoo.co.uk or call 01823 337445.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your data you may complain to the Information Commissioner's Office at ico.org.uk or on 0303 123 1113.
